My Story
Melanie Newman started her career in 1999 as a dog bather, quickly working her way up to own a successful grooming business in Moonee Ponds. Her passion for the craft led her to compete at top international events, representing Groom Team Australia at several World Grooming Championships. Along the way, Melanie became the first and only Australian to win the prestigious European Best in Show title. She’s competed in countries like Australia, New Zealand, the U.S., Germany, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands, specialising in breeds like Bichons, Poodles, and Welsh Terriers.
In 2008, Melanie achieved the highly respected Master Groomer certification, the pinnacle of professionalism in the grooming world. Drawing on her years of experience, she launched Melanie Newman Salon Essentials, a premium, grooming product line utilising natural derived raw materials , designed with both pets and professionals in mind. Today, her products are used by groomers around the world, with over 2,000 stockists globally. The range has expanded to include cutting-edge grooming tools and accessories, making her brand a trusted name in the industry.
Today, Melanie continues to inspire and innovate through her products and educational resources, helping groomers everywhere improve their skills and raise industry standards.

I’m incredibly proud of the business I’ve built for my family. My passion for grooming led me to create my grooming brand Melanie Newman Salon Essentials. Through this it has allowed us to create a community where both professional groomers and pet parents can access the tools, knowledge, and support they need to improve their grooming skills—whether for their own businesses or grooming their dogs at home. It’s been amazing to see how this community has grown and how much it’s helped others.
Outside of work, my family is my world. I love spending time with my husband, dogs, and mum. When I’m not working, you’ll find me walking our dogs at the local park, at the gym, or enjoying a run with my husband. These moments with my loved ones are what keep me grounded and remind me of what’s truly important.
I believe in the power of staying true to yourself, following your passions, and surrounding yourself with people who inspire and uplift you. Life is too short not to pursue your dreams and create the life that makes you happy.
